Datorită unor crime misterioase din Seattle şi unui vampir care caută răzbunare (Victoria), Bella se găseşte încă o dată în pericol. În mijlocul acestor întâmplări, Bella este forţată să aleagă între iubirea sa pentru Edward şi prietenia cu vârcolacul Jacob - ştiind că alegerea sa ar putea să izbucnească o luptă eternă între vampir şi vârcolac. Împrejurările însă îi apropie pe Edward si pe Jacob şi duce chiar la o alianţă între vampiri şi vârcolaci. Bella suferă neputând raspunde iubirii lui Jacob, dar trebuie să-şi urmeze pasiunea - să fie împreună cu Edward oricât de mare ar fi preţul pe care trebuie să-l plătească. Pentru asta însă trebuie să rupă legăturile cu lumea oamenilor, pas pentru care nu este încă pregătită. Zbuciumul Bellei, iubirea nemărginită a lui Edward şi umanitatea vârcolacului învolburează de pasiune această emoţionantă poveste în care nu întâmplător personajele se regăsesc în trăirile eroilor din "La răscruce de vânturi".
